Use Ssh To Download Torrent

Sep 13, 2014 - Open your putty client and input the SSH tunnelling server IP address. Tick “Use proxy for hostname lookups” and “Use proxy for. SSH Tunnel will affect your download speed. HTTPS torrent trackers tend not to work. Download, Install and Configure Putty. In the session screen enter the host name, the port number (22), and tick the connection type box (SSH). Next, go to SSH –> Tunnels, enter a source port and tick the dynamic box. I’m using port 23456, but you are free to choose any post you like as long as it’s available. As others have already noted, HTTPS has nothing to do with torrents. But in uTorrent you can enable encryption for outgoing connections, and optionally accept only encrypted incoming connections from others. Just download latest uTorrent version, go to Preferences > BitTorrent and in Protocol Enctiption select appropriate settings.

Tunneling BitTorrent through SSH.

I've got a SSH account with Tunnelr, and I've been trying to configure various BitTorrent clients (on both Win and Linux boxes) to use my established SSH tunnel, but the torrents always time out. I've tried setting Socks5 as a proxy and as an authenticated proxy, but there's no change. Confirmed that there are firewall rules allowing the traffic. Tried different ports on the ssh connection. To be honest, I'm pretty new to this, so I'm kind of out of ideas. Any suggestions?
