I love linux, but I'm a little more than a novice and I have the following problem.. I have just bought a notebook (HP 250 G4) with FreeDOS and I have installed linuxmint 18 mate (64bit).
Having no wireless nor ethernet I tried to install the proprietary Broadcom drivers from the DVD iso starting from 'drivers' button on the welcome screen after the installation.
Now I see the wireless list of connections, but when I select mine and input the password, linux tries to connect in vain and then stops and goes offline;
The ethernet is as well died (it is detected, but after some time it stops and says: disconnected)
I have tried a lot by myself looking around in some forums, but I gave up because nothing worked, so before returning the notebook back to the seller (and then buying probably a dell with preinstalled linux that works out-of-the-box) I have thought to try this forum hoping that some expert or linux guru will help.. thanks in advance.. I don't know what else to do nor what details you experts need!
